Teacher Assistant – Lower School (Ages 5–8)

ACCESS Academy is looking for a Teacher Assistant who enjoys working with young children ages 5–8. Our Lower School serves students with learning differences and disabilities in a supportive, engaging classroom environment.

This role may be a good fit for someone who is patient, energetic, nurturing, and comfortable providing hands-on support throughout the school day.

What you’ll do

• Support the teacher with instruction, classroom activities, and small and large group learning.
• Help students with classroom routines, behavior, and transitions throughout the day.
• Prepare materials and help keep the classroom organized and ready for students.
• Supervise students in and outside the classroom, following established safety procedures.
• Encourage students’ social development and independence through learning and play.
• Lead classroom activities when the teacher is absent, as directed.
• Protect the confidentiality of student information.

Your primary assignment will be in Lower School. Teacher Assistants may occasionally be asked to help in other Academy classrooms based on student and staffing needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Previous experience working with children
