Teacher Assistant – Intermediate & Upper School (Ages 9–19)

ACCESS Academy is looking for a Teacher Assistant who enjoys working with students ages 9–19. Our Intermediate and Upper School programs serve students with learning differences and disabilities, with an emphasis on academics, communication, social development, and preparation for adulthood.

This role may be a good fit for someone who connects well with older children, adolescents, and young adults and enjoys helping them build skills and independence.

What you’ll do

• Support the teacher with instruction, classroom activities, and small and large group learning.
• Help students with classroom routines, behavior, and transitions throughout the day.
• Prepare materials and help keep the classroom organized and ready for students.
• Supervise students in and outside the classroom, following established safety procedures.
• Support students as they practice communication, social, and daily living skills.
• Lead classroom activities when the teacher is absent, as directed.
• Protect the confidentiality of student information.

Your primary assignment will be in Intermediate or Upper School. Teacher Assistants may occasionally be asked to help in other Academy classrooms based on student and staffing needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age
• Previous experience working with children
