Job Description

Salary: $21.08 - $22.14 / hour (depending on position and qualifications)

Mile High Early Learning has a Teacher Assistant opening at our Anna Jo Garcia Haynes location for candidates interested in working with young children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old.

Early childhood Teacher Assistants support the Lead Teacher in the planning, organizing and delivery of a developmentally appropriate learning environment based on the individual cognitive, motor, social and emotional needs of the children. This person will assist the classroom teacher in managing the classroom to create a positive, healthy and safe learning space.

Responsibilities include for Teacher Assistant:

  • Assist with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, serving snacks / lunches and maintaining classroom cleanliness
  • Assist with the implementation of effective child guidance techniques; define and communicate appropriate limits and boundaries for children, ensure smooth transitions between activities
  • Assist with home visits and parent teacher conferences
  • Be flexible and adaptable to changing classroom conditions
  • May be assigned to different classrooms and ages of children to ensure appropriate teacher/child ratios
  • Maintain a clean classroom environment, wash and disinfect tables after snacks / meals, art projects and other classroom activities throughout the day, pick up toys, books and other materials, keep floors and sleeping areas free of debris, sweep floors, clean counters and cabinets as needed to ensure a safe and healthy environment
  • Follow directions of the classroom teacher working one-to-one or in small groups with children
  • Assist with the implementation of the Montessori inspired approach in the classroom

Requirements

Teacher Assistant:

  • CDA or less than 5 ECE classes, or Level II (3.0) (not expired)
  • PDIS Level II, or qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher (completed 101 or 103 and another ECE class)
  • High School or GED.
  • Experience working with young children preferred.

Additional qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children
  • Early Childhood Teacher qualified in the State of Colorado
  • Bilingual Spanish, Arabic, Amharic (preferred)
  • Ability to work a full-time work week, Monday through Friday & occasional evening meetings
