Teacher Assistant

To assist teachers and provide direct educational services to the service users of the center/facility. Requires High School diploma or G.E.D. with at least one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist teacher and Conduct activities that meet the needs of each individual (Integrative Activities).
• Assure class schedules and other routines are followed. Assist in the development of activities for week-ends and holidays.
• Assist in basic care of individuals, including instruction in such skills.
• Collect appropriate data as assigned. Record progress of individuals as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

• High School diploma or G.E.D. with at least one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
• A Valid driver’s license in state of residence may be required.

Pre-employment screening:

• Complete criminal background
• Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
• Drug testing
• Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
• Proof of employment history or references (if required)
• Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
