Per Diem After-School Teacher (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM, 3–5 Days/Week)

Looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity working with children?

Jim Dooley Early Learning Center is seeking caring, dependable, and energetic Per Diem Teachers to support our after-school program. This is the perfect opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with children and are looking for a flexible afternoon schedule.

Schedule:

• Per Diem
• Monday–Friday
• 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• Work 3–5 afternoons per week

This position is ideal for:

• Retired teachers or childcare professionals
• College students studying education or related fields
• Teaching assistants looking for additional hours
• Individuals with childcare experience seeking flexible, part-time work

What You'll Do

Under the guidance of the Director of Child Care, Lead Teacher, or Infant Program Coordinator, you will:

• Provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children during after-school hours.
• Assist with supervising children during classroom activities, indoor and outdoor play, and transitions.
• Support age-appropriate learning experiences and enrichment activities.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
• Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and safety.
• Follow New York State childcare regulations, accreditation standards, and Center policies.
• Work collaboratively with the teaching team to provide quality care and education.

Qualifications

Education

Minimum:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Preferred:

• CDA Credential
• Vocational training in childcare
• College coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field

Experience

Minimum:

• One year of experience working with children in a childcare, school, camp, or similar setting.

Hourly Rate: $17.24 per hour
