The Global Technical Specialist (TS) for Metrology is a high-impact leadership role. This position holds the primary technical authority for themeasurement and data analysis for timely issue resolution throughout the design, development, and manufacturing cycles.

The leader chosen for this role will navigate VEV into new testing capability. This position will utilize a strategic approach to implementing new advancements in digital measurement methods in testing. Work with VEV sites and PD engineers to assist in application development to enhance existing test/development practices.

Global process sharing will be required to develop, test, and implement uses of digitized geometry for deployment to relevant PD test sites, manufacturing facilities and suppliers (as required). This position would be the liaison for deployment of best practices – they will need an in-depth understanding of the development processes and measurement / analysis processes.

In this position...

  • Work with program teams and testing sites to enhance existing measurement methods through deployment of digital measurement technologies.
  • Work with PD and research teams to integrate 3D digitized data as a validating technology to compliment / enhance existing methods.
  • Develop merged technology processes in order to quantify unknown ‘events’ in testing phase.
  • Target and implement cost savings by reduced testing/reporting times.
  • Work with vendors to prioritize enhancements in hardware/software.

What you'll do...

  • Document best practices and develop global CETPs for digital measurement methods.
  • Investigate emerging technologies for application value.
  • Develop cross-divisional methods to reduce redundant development/testing costs.
  • Act as a cross-divisional liaison for method/technology sharing.
  • Serve as a consultant on budgeting for site deployment of technologies.

You'll have...

  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Product Development / Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years specifically in digital measurement methods and data utilization.
  • Demonstrated expert use of digital measurement hardware (CMM, photogrammetry, white-light and laser scanners, laser-tracker, motion capture).
  • Expert use of class-leading point cloud processing and reverse engineering software.
  • Experience in testing, project justification, purchase, and deployment of measurement hardware/software.
  • Demonstrated cost-savings through implementation of digital measurement methods.
  • Documented implementation of process change through use of DM technology.
  • Six-Sigma certified.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and use of C3PNG toolkit.
  • Working knowledge of design, development, and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of vehicle system interactions in assembly and functionality.
  • Peer recognized lead for technical support in application/methods.
  • Demonstrated strong CAD skills in design, interoperability, and analysis methods.
  • APEL qualified in all applicable disciplines with demonstrated competence in application.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
