Assist in the management and coordination of moderate to high level risk and complex Telecommunications Regional projects in a matrix team environment. Provide leadership, direction, coordination, and effective communication to initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, and close projects in a safe, efficient, economical, risk-balanced approach to achieve short and long range goals with maximum customer satisfaction. Develop relationships and effectively communicate with all stakeholders including internal customers, external customers, team members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and industry peers. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. Solves moderate risk complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Individuals in this role may also be assigned the PM role on a project for further development depending on project management knowledge, experience, and leadership competency.

What you’ll do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

Assist the project manager in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating assigned project and outage work activities. Perform the lead role on local and Regional Projects. Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the AEP System Safety Process, ensuring a safe working environment focused on "Commitment to Zero". Responsible for shepherding high risk projects between Engineering and Construction/Operations, with responsibility for ensuring drawings are complete, materials are ordered and delivered, resource availability, and project plans are updated. Develop solid working relationships, foster teamwork, provide continuous improvement feedback, and seek customer satisfaction with the project team, BU Partners, contractors, vendors, and suppliers. Leverage relationships between Telecom Operations, Telecom Construction, Business Units, and 3rd party Contractors to build efficient work processes and practices. Provide detailed specific guidance, feedback, instruction, and training to improve design, systems, procedures, schedules, and costs. Perform post project reviews/audits to critique performance. Develop documentation to assist in process change and performance improvement..

What we’re looking for:

  • Education requirements are listed below:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Management, Computer Science or Telecommunications
  • Associate's degree in engineering/technical with 2 years' of relevant Telecommunications experience
  • High School Diploma/GED with 4 years' of relevant Telecommications experience

Work Experience requirement listed below:

  • Eight (8) years' experience including work in one of these areas: construction or field operations experience, Telecommunications project execution (in addition to any educational experience identified above)

Other preferences:

  • PMP is strongly preferred.
  • Physical demand level is Sedentary.

  • Develop communication skills that are clear, direct, concise, and professional, including effective listening with all stakeholders.

  • Develop understanding of Engineering & Design, Procurement, Contracting, Estimating, Construction, and Startup procedures and processes.
  • Develop a working knowledge of Telecommunication and BU Partner Project Management tools and techniques.
  • Develop skillsets in strategic thinking, planning, risk assessment, and prioritization of project activities.
  • Maintain a global view of safety, constructability, sequence, changing conditions, contingencies, contractual factors, predictability, priority, direction, and productivity to identify or mitigate project risks.
  • Support project organization, delegate tasks, set expectations, manage deliverables, and hold team members accountable.
  • Demonstrate willingness to provide continuous improvement feedback.
  • Develop conflict management skills and focus on solutions that maximize project success and do the right thing for the company.
  • Develop understanding of scope management, risk-balanced technical options, and common project risk factors.
  • Develop understanding of documents used to procure labor, service, material, and engineered equipment, as well as standard terms and conditions.
  • Develop understanding of contract components and the development process.
  • Develop understanding of critical drawing and document hand-offs between disciplines on a project team.
  • Assist with evaluating team member skill sets and capabilities and make recommendations to ensure project success.
  • Act with integrity and accountability for project assignments.
  • Be curious and seek input from Subject Matter Experts to build understanding and compare with one’s own knowledge base.

Base Salary

SG 07: $87,633-$109,544

SG 08: $98,993-$128,689
