This position is a member of our Water Quality Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Administer the plans and specifications review and approval of domestic publicly and privately-owned treatment works in accordance with 30 TAC Chapter 217, by independently performing engineering analyses of designed wastewater treatment and collection systems. Provide guidance and direction to others.
Participate in administering the beneficial reuse program, in accordance with 30 TAC Chapters 210 and 321P, by independently performing engineering and technical analyses of submitted authorization applications for the beneficial reuse of treated wastewater.
Communicate with TCEQ management, agency staff, the regulated community, the general public, and elected officials regarding the plans and specifications program, the beneficial reuse program, homeland security, and other engineering related programs. Give presentations, provide management briefings, provide technical input, and represent the Division in various public and TCEQ forums.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Engineer III
Texas Professional Engineer's license plus two years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure. TCEQ Qualifying work experience includes obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
Career Ladder Progression One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer II.
Engineer IV
Texas Professional Engineer's license plus three years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure. Qualifying work experience includes obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
Career Ladder Progression One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer III.
Engineer V
Texas Professional Engineer's license plus four years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure. Qualifying work experience includes obtained post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
Career Ladder Progression One year of full-time experience at TCEQ as an Engineer IV.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer III-V state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer III-V series.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Austin Headquarters Office.
