Tax Summer Intern Job Description

PCA’s tax team is responsible for the company’s planning, analysis and compliance with all tax laws and reporting to taxing authorities at the federal, state and local levels, as well as, to the SEC for the financial reporting of taxes. The tax team also represents the company in all tax audits and partners with our manufacturing operations to provide advice on a daily basis and to negotiate incentives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with sales and income tax audits. This includes gathering and summarizing detailed information, preparing requested schedules, formulating dispute work papers and support, post-audit documentation and communicating with various PCA personnel both in the corporate office and in our manufacturing facilities across the United States.
  • Review and approve the proper handling of customers’ sales tax exemption certificates in our automated software system, CertCapture.
  • Research and respond to inquiries and notices from state and local income, sales and use, and federal taxing authorities, vendors, customers, and company personnel.
  • Work with our department and outside firms to ensure accurate and timely filing of sales and use and property tax returns.
  • Oversee the maintenance of tax licenses and permits for our various locations throughout the United States.
  • Prepare annual state and local income tax apportionment work papers.
  • Perform data analytics in Excel, Corptax and other software programs for federal, state and local income tax returns and compliance projects. This includes gathering work paper documentation and preparing book to tax difference calculations.
  • Assist with property and income tax incentives and filings.
  • Prepare and summarize research on sales and use, federal, state and local income tax issues as needed.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled college student majoring in Accounting, Finance, Business, or other applicable major and have completed their sophomore year.
  • A minimum grade point average of 3.0/ 4.0 is required and you must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.

Abilities/Skills:

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and enjoy a systematic approach to problem solving.
  • Candidate must display maturity and a high level of professionalism.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Starting pay for position: $25.00 - 30.00 per hour depending on your academic year. per hour.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
