About this Position The Tax Specialist is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate compliance with all tax obligations of the company in Guatemala. This role oversees the preparation, review, filing, and reporting of taxes, ensuring adherence to local tax regulations and corporate policies. The position also supports tax audits, manages relationships with regulatory authorities, and identifies opportunities to mitigate tax risks and enhance compliance processes.

Working closely with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and other business functions, the Tax Specialist provides tax advisory support, contributes to tax planning initiatives, and drives continuous improvements in tax-related processes to support the organization's operational and strategic objectives.

What you´ll do

• Ensure the accurate calculation, recording, and reporting of applicable taxes, including VAT, Corporate Income Tax, withholding taxes, and other local tax obligations.
• Execute recurring tax processes and ensure compliance with established tax filing deadlines and regulatory requirements.
• Perform tax reconciliations and support monthly and annual financial closing activities.
• Manage tax recovery processes and monitor tax credits and receivable balances.
• Maintain up-to-date tax documentation and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
• Support internal and external audits, as well as inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
• Coordinate and follow up on tax filings, procedures, and communications with the Superintendence of Tax Administration (SAT).
• Provide tax advisory and support to Finance, Accounting, Procurement, and other business functions.
• Participate in process optimization, tax compliance, and tax planning initiatives.
• Coordinate activities with external tax advisors and regulatory entities as required.

What makes you a good fit

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax compliance, tax accounting, or related finance functions.
• Experience working in multinational companies or tax/audit consulting firms is highly preferred.
• Advanced English proficiency
• Strong knowledge of Guatemalan tax regulations and statutory tax reporting requirements.
• Experience managing VAT (IVA), Corporate Income Tax (ISR), withholding taxes, and other recurring tax obligations.
• Proficiency in SAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience supporting tax audits and responding to requests from tax authorities.
