CharteredPartners is seeking a Tax Senior Manager to join a well-regarded accounting firm in Sydney. The successful candidate will manage corporate tax compliance and advisory engagements end to end, acting as the principal day-to-day contact for a varied client base and supervising the work of the wider team. This is a hands-on delivery and supervision role spanning Australian corporate tax compliance, transfer pricing support and practical advisory work across the ATO's evolving agenda. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage corporate tax compliance engagements end to end, overseeing returns, instalment activity statements and ATO lodgements to deadline.
  • Deliver practical advisory work spanning group structuring, Division 7A, FBT and GST at 10%.
  • Apply the corporate tax regime (30%, or 25% for base-rate entities) accurately across the portfolio.
  • Support transfer pricing and thin capitalisation documentation and analysis.
  • Act as the principal day-to-day client contact, managing timelines, queries and expectations.
  • Supervise, review and develop managers and junior staff, providing technical coaching and quality control.
  • Assist with the assessment of BEPS and Pillar Two obligations under director and partner direction.
  • Support engagement economics through budgeting, billing and work-in-progress management.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recognised professional qualification, with CA ANZ membership and / or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) status through The Tax Institute preferred.
  • Solid post-qualification experience in Australian corporate tax within a public accounting firm or comparable environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Australian corporate tax regime, including base-rate entity rules and Division 7A.
  • Practical familiarity with FBT, GST and withholding tax obligations.
  • Experience managing corporate tax compliance cycles and ATO correspondence.
  • Working knowledge of transfer pricing and thin capitalisation documentation requirements.
  • A developing command of BEPS and Pillar Two and their Australian application.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements concurrently while maintaining technical quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with client stakeholders.
  • Experience supervising and reviewing the work of junior team members.

Preferred Experience:

  • Exposure to clients across financial services, property, technology or industrial sectors.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions or group restructures.
  • Familiarity with consolidation, losses and franking account matters.
  • Involvement in transfer pricing documentation projects.
  • A track record of contributing to proposals and practice development.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring within a structured review framework.

Compensation:

Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
