Our national Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Tax group is an advisory practice with significant advancement opportunities. We advise private equity firms, family offices, privately held companies and multinational corporations on the tax aspects of planning, structuring and executing M&A transactions. 

RSM US LLP is looking for a dynamic M&A/Financial Instruments Tax Senior Manager to join our growing national Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Tax practiceThis is a rapidly growing consulting practice with significant advancement opportunities. We advise multinational corporations, privately held companies, partnerships, and private equity firms on the tax aspects of planning, structuring, and executing M&A transactions.

As a member of our M&A Tax team, you would play a critical role providing advice to our clients and firm personnel in the areas of financial instruments, corporate, and M&A taxIn this role you would have the opportunity to advise on wide ranging issues such as recapitalization, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions, classification, sales, and exchanges of financial instruments, deductibility of interest, hedging transactions, and many others.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team that focuses on delivering due diligence and tax structuring services, and communicates findings and opportunities to clients

  • Identify and develop high value tax opportunities for our clients

  • Assist clients on a range of financial instrument and related M&A tax issues such as recapitalization, restructuring and bankruptcy transactions, classification, sales, and exchanges of financial instruments, deductibility of interest, and hedging transactions

  • Planning, managing and executing on advice engagements with limited supervision

  • Develop, motivate, and train team members 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited university

  • One of the following is required: an active CPA license in the state of residence or primary office; an active Enrolled Agent (EA) license; or an active Attorney license

  • Minimum of eight years of tax experience in public accounting, with the ability to effectively identify, sell, and deliver tax services to middle‑market clients

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards

  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic and written means

  • Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously; meet deadlines; and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast‑paced, client service environment

  • Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and, as required by the role, at client sites, including the ability to sit for extended periods of time and work at a computer and other standard office equipment

  • Ability to maintain a consistent onsite presence during core business hours, including regularly reporting to a firm office location and traveling to client sites as required, with access to reliable transportation

  • Ability to work extended and/or non‑standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a broad range of corporate tax matters across various industries

  • Master’s degree in Taxation

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $170,700 - $342,700

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
