Your Impact

18-month fixed term contract role

You will play a critical part in ensuring tax requirements are effectively integrated into major business and technology transformation initiatives across Asahi. Acting as the tax subject matter expert, you will provide specialist tax and tax accounting advice throughout the project lifecycle, helping to ensure solutions are designed, tested and implemented in a compliant and commercially effective way.

You will support key strategic initiatives, including the implementation and enhancement of warehouse and transport management solutions and the optimisation of Asahi's distribution network. Bringing a practical and commercial mindset, you will help ensure tax obligations are met while enabling successful project outcomes, process improvements and operational efficiencies across the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide tax and tax accounting expertise across strategic projects, ensuring tax requirements are embedded into project design and delivery.
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of warehouse and transport management solutions, ensuring Australian tax compliance obligations are met.
  • Partner with project teams on initiatives to optimise and consolidate Asahi’s distribution footprint across the Eastern seaboard of Australia.
  • Develop and execute tax-related test scenarios to validate system configurations, processes and required outcomes.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve tax-related system defects and issues, while ensuring accurate migration of tax-related data.
  • Review business process designs, training materials and operating procedures, providing practical tax advice aligned to commercial objectives.

About you:

You are an experienced finance and / or tax professional who combines strong technical knowledge with an ability to effectively collaborate across different functions and analyse large volumes of data. You thrive in project environments, bringing both precision and business understanding to your work.

  • Extensive experience working with SAP, ideally including implementation or upgrade projects
  • Working knowledge of New Zealand and / or Australian tax legislation (GST, alcohol excise experience highly regarded)
  • Demonstrated experience in tax and accounting
  • Intermediate-level Excel skills and confidence handling large, complex datasets
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively across functions
  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a cross functional team as and when required
