RSM’s Washington National Tax team is an experience-based group of distinguished tax professionals who track tax developments directly from the sources andimmediatelytranslate the information into how these changesimpactour clients. With resources across the country and a physical presence in Washington, D.C., our team stays up to date on the latest developments in tax policy and tax developments. Team members share their analysis of potential implications of new tax laws, Treasuryregulationsand IRS pronouncements through a regular cadence of articles, webcasts and newsletters and working closely with our engagement teams and clients.
As a member of our Washington National Tax group, working specifically with the Accounting Methods & Periods (AMP) team, you willbe responsible forthe following job duties which are focused around two core concepts yoursubject matterexpertiseand delivering excellent client service:
Responsibilities
Provide quality review of Forms3115, 1128, 970
Research, address, and consult on technical issues specific torevenue andexpenserecognition, inventory,capitalization,and cost recovery
Monitorthe issuance of guidance by the government and courts andpresent / summarize guidanceto the internal accounting methods group
Assistwiththedevelopment ofinternal and externalthought leadershipand continuing professional educationcourses
Assistwith research and draftingof opinions,technical memos, or similar types of guidance
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accountingor a related field from an accredited university
One of the following isrequired active CPA license in the state of residence or primary office; active Enrolled Agent (EA) license; active attorney license; or a pre‑approved alternative certification that meets RSM requirements
Minimum ofsixyears of experience in public accounting, with a proventrack recordof practice building and project management, anddemonstratedexperience effectivelyidentifying, selling, and delivering tax services to middle‑market business clients
Proventrack recordof successful tax planning, including accelerated depreciation deductions through cost segregation, fixed assets, and repairs and maintenance analyses
Strong computer skills, includingproficiencyin Microsoft Excel
Proven capacity to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines andin accordance withfirm and client standards
Strong communicationskills, including clear, professional, and effective interaction with firm personnel and clients in person, by telephone, and through electronic or written means
Effective project management skills, including managing multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines andmaintainingaccuracy and quality of work in a fast‑paced, client service environment
Experience working effectively in a professional office environmentand,as required by the role, at client sites, including sitting for extended periods of time and working at a computer and other standard office equipment
Capacity tomaintaina consistent onsite presence during core business hours, including regular reporting to a firm office location and travel to client sites asrequired, with access to reliable transportation
Abilityto work extended and/or non‑standard hours during peak periods or as necessary to meet client, project, or firm business needs
Preferred Qualifications
5+years of experience working with tax accounting methods and inventory, or related tax-advisory field (ex: mergers & acquisitions, ASC 740)
Master'sin accounting or another business-related field; MBA, MST, JD/LLM

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
Compensation Range: $100,000 - $189,200
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
