ABOUT THE ROLE

The tax team ensures Cavco appropriately estimates and pay taxes to federal, state, and local taxing entities – working to optimize the tax liability in a compliance manner. In addition, the team manages Cavco’s treasury operations to optimize cash management and investments within Cavco’s risk profile.

The Tax Manager oversees tax provision development for financial reporting and submission of income tax returns working with external preparers and tax staff. This role retains complete accountability for execution and continuous improvement of a business process and development and coaching of the team responsible for that process. The Process Manager is accountable for mapping, documenting, reengineering, quality assurance, staffing, metrics, controls, risk identification, and service level expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coaches, develops, and supervises tax accountants
  • Responsible for the ASC740 quarterly and annual tax provision calculations
  • Responsible for the calculations of the federal and state income tax returns
  • Review of FIN48 and UNICAP
  • Respond to notices and inquiries from taxing authorities
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external auditors
  • Calculate, research, and provide information requested by management and external parties • Assist with other areas as assigned, such as: sales tax, property tax, payroll tax, and incentives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 6 years of tax experience in public accounting or corporate environment
  • CPA, Masters of Tax a plus
  • Strong federal, state and local tax knowledge
  • Experience with manufacturing, retail, insurance or mortgage industries is a plus
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Highly motivated with a take charge attitude
  • Ability to communicate effectively
