Tax Manager

Washington, DC – Hybrid 2 days onsite

Lead the tax planning and compliance efforts that enable a premier IP law firm to operate globally with confidence.

Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, a global leader in intellectual property law, has created a new Tax Manager role to elevate how the firm manages domestic and international tax compliance and planning across its global operations.

This is a pivotal role for a tax professional focused on managing domestic and international tax compliance, to bring insight and efficiency to complex tax matters and key business decisions.

The Tax Manager works alongside the Controller in supporting the partnership to drive tax planning, ensure compliance, and strengthen the firm’s global operating model in support of long-term priorities.

The role in action:

  • Elevate and scale the firm’s domestic and international tax strategy and compliance
  • Shape tax decisions, manage risk, and align outcomes with long-term priorities.
  • Partner with the Controller, senior attorneys, firm leadership, and external advisors
  • Strengthen consistency and decision-quality across global tax reporting and mobility
  • Optimize in-house expertise that improve efficiency and confidence.

We are seeking candidates who:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field, required
  • CPA required
  • A minimum of 5 years of industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with partnership taxation required
  • Experience working with professional service firms utilizing cash/tax basis method of accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of accrual basis of accounting utilized for international tax and compliance purposes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly in Excel and knowledge of Power BI.
  • Basic understanding of US Tax equalization and hypo tax calculation. Superior analytical and problem-solving skills to address business issues, formulate options, and explain strategies for effective resolution.
