We are looking for a tax specialist to join our Tax & Legal Services team in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland at Manager level. You will assist in solving clients’ complex business problems, contributing to strategic tax reviews and drive innovative client service offerings.
Lead the delivery of tax advisory and compliance engagements, ranging in complexity with support from Tax Partners. Collaborate across the business and be innovative in your approach to working with high-value global clients. We actively use AI and digital tools to support high quality, efficient client service so being comfortable and curious with technology is a must.

This is a full time, fixed term opportunity for 18 months, working Monday to Friday, minimum 37.5 hours per week.
Your day-to-day could include:
Manage the delivery of tax compliance and advisory projects - applying an understanding of legislation and the interpretation of case law, producing high-quality outputs
Apply an understanding of financial statements and their relevance to the tax function
Calculation and/or review of tax balances for financial statement reporting purposes
Leverage GenAI, digital tools, PwC methodologies and quality frameworks to improve efficiency, consistency and client outcomes
Coach, delegate to and support junior team members across advisory and compliance work
Manage and develop excellent client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor driving sustainable growth
Identify and pursue value-add opportunities through business development, client relationship management and portfolio growth
Provide practical, well-researched and technically robust advice on complex tax matters, including acquisitions, divestments, tax reviews, corporate tax issues and other advisory assignments
Build your skills for the future and develop in a way that is meaningful for you while working with global clients across multiple industries

4+ years proven tax experience in a professional services firm where you will have experience in preparing and reviewing complex income tax returns, calculation of tax balances for inclusion financial statements, interpreting tax legislation and financial information, engaging with tax authorities on behalf of clients and managing client relationships
Strong understanding of tax legislation and revenue authority practices, gained in New Zealand or a comparable jurisdiction with similar tax principles
A relevant Bachelor’s degree related to tax, accounting, finance or a closely related subject
Being CA qualified, or having a relevant post graduate qualification in tax is desirable but not essential
Proactive and results oriented approach
Experienced with technology-based solutions
Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with clients and staff
Ability to inspire teamwork, supervise, coach and support team members including assisting with the review and evaluation of staff performance
