We’re all about working together to realise ambitions. So, our growing Employment Tax and Global Mobility team is comprised of experts who advise clients with every aspect of their employment tax affairs, including UK and international advisory, and compliance services.

From the get-go, you'll work with a wide range of clients, from owner-managed businesses to large multinational organisations. Our clients choose us because we take the time to understand their businesses, so you'll build strong relationships with clients and gain insight into the challenges they face, their goals and the industries they operate in. With responsibility from an early stage, you'll quickly gain exposure to all aspects of the role while developing your technical and commercial knowledge.

The team follows a hybrid approach, with trainees expected to work from the office three days per week. However, trainees should be prepared to attend more regularly when required for training, team activities, or business needs, particularly during the early stages of the programme. Travel to and attendance at client sites when required is also an essential requirement of the position.

In addition to internal and external training, you’ll learn on the job through a range of key responsibilities while supporting senior colleagues with the annual tax compliance cycle. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Developing an understanding of UK employment tax legislation and applying this knowledge to client work.
• Analysing financial and payroll information provided by clients and preparing accurate calculations and reports.
• Preparing and submitting a variety of employment tax compliance returns, including P11Ds, PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSAs), Short Term Business Visitor (STBV) returns, Employment Related Securities (ERS) returns and expatriate personal tax returns.
• Assisting with employment tax reviews and audits, identifying areas of risk and opportunities for improvement.
• Liaising with clients, colleagues and other service lines to help deliver a high-quality and joined-up service.
• Communicating with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on behalf of clients.
• Attending and contributing to client meetings, calls and internal discussions.
• Managing the day-to-day requirements of a portfolio of clients, often acting as a first point of contact for routine queries.
• Managing your workload effectively, prioritising tasks and communicating clearly with colleagues and clients while working across multiple projects simultaneously.
• Building strong client relationships through responsive communication and professional service delivery.
• Maintaining accurate records, working papers and documentation in line with firm and regulatory standards.

You’ll receive support and guidance in all your tasks, as you gain exposure across the wider business and learn the different ways we support and engage with our clients.

Your path to qualification

This role is a three-year training contract, during which time you will study towards the ATT and CTA qualifications.

What this means for you:

• To obtain the ATT and CTA qualifications, you’ll complete 9 exams in total.
• The first 6 exams are for the ATT qualification, which gives you a strong grounding in UK tax. Then you will move onto CTA, where you develop advanced advisory and application skills through a further 3 exams.
• You will develop key professional skills through structured training and development.
• You will follow a planned schedule of work and study, with regular revision and training sessions leading up to key exams during the year

• You will attend in-person tuition with our trusted training provider during set
• study blocks.
• Paid study leave.

Who are we looking for?

Our Tax Graduate Programme welcomes applicants from all degree backgrounds - whether you're a recent university graduate, changing careers, or returning to work. While recent changes have been made to Level 7 apprenticeship funding, there are no upper age limits for joining any of our programmes.

You’ll be provided with training and support throughout your career with us, and the ATT/CTA qualification pathway has a structured study and exam programme to allow you to prepare proactively, so you don’t need to have prior technical knowledge or experience, but we do look for is:

• A clear motivation to pursue a career in employment tax, supported by an understanding of the ATT and CTA qualifications.
• Enthusiasm for building strong relationships and collaborating with clients and colleagues, with close support from your manager.
• A proactive, results-driven attitude, ensuring excellent client service and a commitment to delivering high-quality work with integrity and professionalism.
• A dedication to ethical standards, ensuring your work aligns with professional guidelines and best practices.
• Strong commitment and reliability, enabling you to balance your studies and exams (with paid study leave) alongside your full-time role and responsibilities.

In order to be eligible for the programme, you will also need:

• Achieved a minimum of 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A Levels (or equivalent qualifications), excluding any Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
• Have achieved a 2:1 or above, from a degree in any discipline.
• Be permitted to work in the UK, for at least 3-years from the start date of the programme.
