The Centrally Assessed Division is currently looking to fill a management-level position in its Oil & Gas Section. The Tax Examiner Manager will work under the direction of the Centrally Assessed Division Director with little to no supervision and will be responsible for managing the activities of the Section including:
Managing the annual assessment cycle:Ensuring all centrally assessed oil and gas properties are assessed accurately and timely according to applicable law and policies; oversee and participate in related activities such as:conducting on-site reviews and inspections of businesses, equipment;developing capitalization rates and pricing forecasts;presenting to stakeholders;identifying and implementing changes leading to improved processes;Managing staff: Hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating employees; assigning responsibilities to team members and organizing their schedules;Setting goals: Establishing objectives for the team and ensuring they are met;Providing feedback: Monitoring performance and providing guidance and support to employees;Resolving issues: Handling customer/stakeholder inquiries and resolving disputes; maintaining good working relationships with taxpayers, county officials and staff;Providing technical expertise: Serving as a technical expert and resource for centrally assessed valuations by:obtaining and maintaining required appraisal licenses;staying current on best practices in valuation and training others as needed;preparing narrative appraisals and testifying as an expert witness for appeal hearings;Providing leadership and support: Completing other duties as assigned, proactively engage in activities that help achieve the Tax Commission’s mission and vision. Coordinating with section, Division, and/or functional area management to oversee or manage cross-Section, Division, or cross-Division projects.
