Job Description

Our client, a global professional services firm with a long-established presence in Bermuda, is seeking a U.S. Tax Director to join its partner-led tax practice. This role is ideally suited to an experienced Director who is technically strong, compliance-focused, and seeking a clear pathway to Partner within 1–2 years, subject to performance, business needs, and mutual alignment.

The position sits within an established Bermuda team and focuses on U.S. tax compliance and ASC 740 provision work for clients across insurance, alternative investment funds, and other complex corporate structures, including corporations, partnerships, and other entities.

While industry experience is valued, the primary focus is on technical corporate tax strength and ASC 740 expertise. The firm can provide guidance on sector-specific rules where necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as an integral part of the U.S. tax practice, managing U.S. tax compliance engagements for corporations, partnerships, and complex structures
• Support the preparation and review of U.S. tax returns and ASC 740 provisions
• Act as a senior technical resource to partners, managers, and staff
• Coordinate engagement delivery, including workflow planning, deadlines, and quality control
• Support and develop managers and senior staff through coaching and technical oversight
• Gradually take on increased leadership responsibility in line with progression toward Partner
• Contribute to the broader success of the practice through high-quality compliance and technical delivery

Ideal Experience & Background

• CPA designation (EA or LLM in Taxation also considered)
• 8–12+ years of U.S. tax experience in public accounting or professional services
• Currently operating at Director (or equivalent) level, or a Senior Manager ready to step up
• Strong technical expertise in corporate and partnership taxation
• Strong technical expertise in ASC 740 tax provisions
• Experience working with clients in insurance, alternative investment funds, or other complex multinational corporate environments
• Comfortable working closely with partners and contributing to the broader success of the practice
• Strong communicator with the ability to engage credibly with senior colleagues and clients
• Willingness to relocate to Bermuda (relocation support and work permit sponsorship provided)
