JOB SUMMARY

The Tax and Compliance Manager ensures relevant tax matters, filings and all other related requirements are prepared complete, accurately and on time. The Manager works hand in hand with the Tax Director, Finance leaders, the CGS team, and other relevant stakeholders in executing tax planning strategies, activities and projects. The position helps design and formulate tax saving measures and initiatives for the various companies that may be assigned. This role is the primary representative for tax audits and disputes with the various stakeholders including government agencies such as BIR, BOC, PEZA, BOI, etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee the Group's entire tax function, including compliance, advisory, audits, tax planning, and alignment with overall business and Group strategies.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation, review, and filing of all national and local tax returns, schedules, reconciliations, and statutory compliance requirements, while monitoring and cascading new tax laws, regulations, and developments across the organization.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with BIR, PEZA, BOI, and other government agencies, leading tax audits, investigations, disputes, and related correspondences.
  • Manage the Group's tax provision process and support financial reporting requirements, including the review of current and deferred tax calculations and tax-related disclosures.
  • Provide strategic tax advice and support to the Group on transactions, contracts, investments, restructurings, incentives, and other operational matters to ensure tax efficiency and compliance
  • Review significant transactions, accounting treatments, and business initiatives to assess tax implications and recommend appropriate tax positions.
  • Lead tax-related projects, process improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and special studies, as may be required, to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen tax compliance.
  • Manage and develop the tax team through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and capability-building initiatives, while collaborating closely with Finance, CGS, Legal, Procurement, HR, and external advisors.
  • All other tasks that may be assigned by the Tax Director

DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY

  • Recommend decisions concerning the Group's day-to-day tax compliance, tax reporting, tax audit management, and routine tax advisory matters
  • Represent the Group before tax authorities, determine appropriate tax treatments for ordinary business transactions, and implement tax governance and control measures.
  • Decisions involving material tax exposures, tax settlements, significant tax planning initiatives, tax positions with substantial financial impact, or matters outside established policies shall be escalated to the Tax Director, CFO, and President and Group CFO, as applicable

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • With at least 8-10 years of experience in tax compliance and BIR tax matters, including minimum of 3 years in managerial role
  • Extensive knowledge of tax laws and regulations
  • International tax experience is a plus (but not required)
  • Proven experience in leading, coaching, and developing tax staff, including performance management, training, and capability building
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence cross-functional stakeholders across Finance,
  • Operations, Procurement, HR, and other business units
  • Proven ability to develop and implement tax strategies
  • Strong leadership skills, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in tax software and technology
