1Determines correct tax rates and collects and remits taxes paid to relevant regulatory authorities; Prepares various income tax returns, including corporate returns, partnership and trust returns, corporation returns as well as state/provincial, local and other tax adjustments and returns including local sales tax, franchise tax returns, customs and excise tax, property tax returns and international tax reports.
Provide end-to-end support for Argentina indirect tax compliance and operational tax activities, ensuring timely and accurate calculation, filing, and payment of national and provincial taxes, in compliance with local regulations and Chevron internal controls (including SOX).
Activities
Prepare, file, and coordinate payment of Argentina indirect tax returns and related schedules (e.g., VAT, Gross Income, Debits & Credits tax, and withholding taxes), ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with deadlines.
Manage communications with Argentina tax authorities (e.g., ARCA and provincial agencies) including information requests, audits/inspections, and notices; prepare supporting documentation and track outcomes.
Keep updated on Argentina tax regulation updates.
Preparation of account reconciliations under team’s scope.
Comply with SOX/internal controls and procedures under team scope.
Support month-end close activities, including tax accruals, variance analysis, and troubleshooting of tax-related postings.
Partner with other BASSC teams to obtain inputs, resolve issues, and align tax position and operational execution.
Identify and implement process improvements (standardization, automation, and controls optimization) to increase efficiency and reduce compliance risk.

Key skills and competencies
· Argentina tax legislation knowledge – Strong understanding of national and provincial indirect taxes and how they apply to business operations.
· Analytical problem-solving – Capable of identifying key aspects of a problem, root causes, and proposing practical solutions.
· Systems & data – Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas) and ability to work with ERP/reporting tools (e.g., SAP/JDE) to extract, validate, and reconcile information.
Communication & stakeholder management – Clear, concise written and verbal communication; ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and provide status updates and issue escalation when needed.
Ownership & continuous improvement – Takes initiative, prioritizes effectively, and drives improvements to processes and controls.
· Collaboration & inclusion – Enjoy working with people of diverse backgrounds in a collaborative and respectful environment.
Previous exposure to energy/oil related organizations are a plus but not required.
Required qualifications
• Proven experience preparing and filing Argentina tax returns (VAT, Gross Income, Debits & Credits, and withholding taxes).
• Experience in finance/accounting processes (close, accruals, reconciliations) and working effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Intermediate English proficiency (written and spoken).
• Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and a commitment to uphold Chevron’s values, policies, and standards.
