The Tax Compliance Accountant is primarily responsible for supporting business license tracking and preparation for hundreds of municipalities across the business. This role supports financial integrity by preparing Sales & Use Tax returns, excise tax filings, and associated journal entries for multiple states. A typical day involves reconciling general ledger accounts, documenting tax department processes, and collaborating with Project Managers to ensure accurate accounting for various departmental projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and file renewals for city and state business licenses across all operating regions.
Support the preparation and filing of sales & use tax, excise tax, and other similar regulatory filings.
Coordinate the collection of necessary data and documentation to support state income tax filings.
Perform tax accruals via journal entries and conduct regular analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of tax department processes and work instructions.
Communicate with Project Managers and department personnel to resolve accounting matters relevant to specific projects.
Collaborate with external tax consultants and assist in gathering information required for specialized tax matters.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager (i.e. special projects)

Education and Experience

Hours:
This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor.

Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
