Job Overview:

The Specialist, Tax Business Operations is a key member of the Tax Management Team, supporting the VP of Tax/COO through the management of cross-functional projects, presentations, documentation, and administrative activities. The role ensures timelines, risks, and milestones are effectively managed across strategic and operational initiatives.

As a key-enabler to the Mercedes-Benz U.S. strategy, the Specialist partners with MBUSA, MBUSI, MBRDNA, MBNAC, and the tax teams in Canada and Mexico to identify, prioritize, and support business opportunities through effective resource planning and execution.

The position is responsible for policy and procedure development and compliance, conducting special reviews as directed by management, supporting strategic projects and system implementations, and maintaining Corporate Compliance IT systems, databases, and applications to ensure accurate, current, and accessible information.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional, cross-regional initiatives and operational projects across MBNAC, MBUSA, Mercedes-Benz AG, MB Canada, and MB Mexico, ensuring alignment, execution, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop and manage executive-level reports, dashboards, presentations, and communication materials for the VP of Tax/COO and senior leadership.
  • Establish and maintain departmental governance frameworks, including communication strategies, reporting structures, tracking mechanisms, and collaboration platforms to support strategic and operational objectives.
  • Manage the governance and integrity of departmental records, tax documentation, licenses, and reporting to support compliance, audit readiness, and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure the successful execution of tax and compliance initiatives by coordinating cross-functional activities related to audits, property tax, entity transactions, relocations, and other strategic projects.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, as necessary.
  • Manage the coordination of the North America Tax team meetings, events, and departmental activities.
  • Provide executive support to the VP of Tax, including calendar management, travel, expenses, and meeting coordination.
  • Manage financial and administrative processes, including invoices, purchase orders, budgets, vendor records, tax payments, and accounts payable.
  • Maintain departmental records, reports, licenses, and tax documentation, ensuring accurate record retention and retrieval.
  • Support tax-related activities, audits, compliance processes, relocations, and other administrative initiatives.

Qualifikationen

Qualifications

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. Visa Sponsorship and Relocation assistance will be provided for this position.

This position requires a minimum of 5 years of overall work experience. Preferred experience includes:

  • Project Management, Business Consultancy and/or Strategy

Education

Bachelor's Degree is required with a Master's degree preferred. Recommended majors include:

  • International Business, Marketing or Project Management, or relevant degree required.

Additional Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated project management experience.

  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail, and sound business judgment.
  • Strategic and independent thinker with the ability to analyze complex issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and foster collaboration across all levels of the organization.

Prerequisites:

  • Domestic (and occasionally International) travel requirements (<5%).
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
