Background checks are required by the Internal Revenue Service and are authorized under Vermont law. 3 V.S.A. § 241. Duties are performed in a standard office setting. Workload pressure is usually high and is intense from February through June. Incumbents must be able to concentrate on details and perform accurate work in the face of frequent interruptions. The work of Tax Analyst IIIs directly affects the financial/tax accounts of Vermont individuals and businesses. Calculations, adjustments, advice, and communications must be accurate and timely. Stressful situations and strong differences of opinion with taxpayers or their representatives may occur.
Bachelor's degree or higher and one (1) or more years of work in accounting, auditing, tax preparation, tax processing, financial operations/administration, analytics, or related field
OR
High School diploma or equivalent or higher and at least four (4) years of experience in accounting, auditing, tax preparation, tax processing, financial operations/administration, analytics, or related field
OR
One (1) year or more as a Tax Analyst II or Tax Examiner III
Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) Degree or coursework in accounting, economics, business administration, public administration, finance, math, or related field
