Sony Corporation of America is seeking an individual with experience in State Tax to support our global tax department in New York City, NYThe TaxAccountantwillassistwithall elementsofvarious indirectstate tax compliance, reporting,andauditsprocesses. This position will report toManagerof State and Local Taxes. 

This is a Hybrid Role requiring 3-4 days onsite in our NYC office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare700businesspersonal propertyreturnsfor 39 reportable states covering over 200 variousjurisdictions

  • Log and review over400property taxassessment notices,500 property tax bills, and any open appeals

  • Preparequarterly and annualized NY commercial rent tax returns, billboard and signage familiarity preferred

  • Preparevarious other state and local tax returnsincludingSan Francisco gross receipts/homeless tax,annual reports, and Delaware Franchise Tax

  • Administer and oversee data related to the formation,dissolutionand ownership structureof legal entities within the tax group

  • Assistwith training of affiliates worldwide, interact with accounting, finance,andoperating business unit teams

  • Maintainthe tax department’s compliancecalendar

  • Keep current on state legislative changes and developments

  • Facilitate and champion process improvement initiatives within the taxgroupto enhance efficiency through theintroductionof innovative solutions and collaboration with other tax specialty groups

  • Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above

QUALIFICATION FOR POSITION

Your qualifications and experience should include:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Taxationor equivalent experiencerequired

  • Aminimum of1-2years of experienceofpublicaccounting and/orcorporatetax experience from a large corporation. Entertainment industry experience preferred.

  • Excellentverbal and written communication skills, high degree of accuracy andself-review, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline driven dynamic environment

  • Proficient withMS Officeand automationsolutions a plus.

  • Must be eligible to work unrestricted in the USA

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $80,000 to $90,000. In addition to the annual base salary, this role has an annual bonus target of 7%.This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
