Tax Accountant Role

As part of Novotech’s Finance and Administration unit, the Tax Accountant is responsible for all company secretarial, taxation, accounting and other tasks. Managing multiple operations of the tax practice area and to deliver quality tax services, that will increase firm’s reputation.

Company Secretarial:

  • Working directly with Director of Legal, Quality and Compliance.
  • Managing country specific compliance obligations for the group and establishing new processes.
  • Creating and maintenance of database of all service providers on company secretarial matters.
  • Ensuring Annual Reporting and Survey requirements are met.
  • Assisting in setting up new business entities and associated bank account set ups for the group.
  • Maintenance of the director, shareholder and advisors’ databases and ensuring changes are in line with local legal requirements.
  • Responsible for the Australian and New Zealand ASIC reporting responsibilities.
  • Managing Asia and US corporate reporting responsibilities in collaboration with local advisers.
  • Maintaining and updating Share Registries as needed.
  • Ensuring all required board resolutions are appropriately executed and filed.
  • Ensuring all company fees are paid on time to company regulators as per local law requirements.
  • Updating business details for government entities as needed.

Taxation:

  • Maintaining taxation reporting responsibilities.
  • Ensuring all tax reporting deadlines per local entities are managed.
  • Ability to refer to and interpret the income tax legislation across various different jurisdictions.
  • Ability to research foreign tax legislation.
  • Monthly and quarterly taxation for the Group and Subsidiaries.
  • Preparation of monthly business activity statements.
  • Preparation of monthly company tax instalments and pay relevant taxes due.
  • GST and VAT reporting.
  • FBT reporting and Analysis.
  • Withholding Tax calculation.
  • Understanding of Transfer pricing.
  • Annual and Provisional tax reporting.
  • Preparation of the Tax Consolidated Group (TCG) return at Group level, with specific understanding of the following:
    • Thin capitalization Calculation.
    • Blackhole expenditure assessment.
    • ACA calculation in relation to additions to the TCG.
    • Assessment of Legal expenses for tax purposes.
    • Calculate the Attributable income for a Controlled Foreign Corporation (CFC)
  • Tax and tax cashflow reporting to Global parent.
  • Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, such as external taxation advisors and consultants in various countries, taxation authorities.

Accounting:

  • Understands and prepares tax effect accounting.
  • Preparation of tax notes for Financial Statements for Group consolidation under IFRS and SFRS (Singapore) standards.

Other:

  • M&A Projects as and when required.
  • Special tax projects due to restructure and change of tax law as and when required.
  • Train or mentor assistance as required.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Business/Commerce degree
  • Chartered Accountancy or Certified Practicing Accounting holder preferred
  • 4-5 years of prior work experience in Taxation preferred
  • Good attention to detail
  • Organized and structured
  • Good communicator with various internal and external stakeholders
  • Good independent worker and team player
