Position Overview
The Specialized Instructor – Tall Flags is a highly skilled enrichment professional responsible for teaching Tall Flag/Drill Team skills to high school students through engaging, hands-on instruction. This temporary position runs for 16 weeks, beginning upon acceptance of a job offer.
The instructor will lead structured practices and support student participation during performances and athletic events while fostering teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and school pride.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position reporting directly to the Site Coordinator at the assigned school site.
Schedule & Commitment
- 16-week assignment
- 8 hours per week total

- - 4 hours per week: Hour-long practices, Monday–Friday

- - 4 hours per week: Games, performances, and events (may include travel to football games and other school events)

Key Responsibilities
- Coach and instruct the Tall Flags/Drill Team at the high school level
- Teach Tall Flag techniques, routines, and performance skills aligned with student ability levels
- Develop and sustain a positive, winning tradition while serving as a role model for student-athletes
- Emphasize good sportsmanship, academic excellence, teamwork, and positive attitudes
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students, school staff, administration, parents, and athletic booster clubs
- Demonstrate leadership and a strong commitment to educating and empowering youth to reach their full potential
Program & Instructional Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate a full syllabus and lesson plans for Tall Flags enrichment activities

Safety, Compliance & Professional Standards
- Use proper safety protocols for indoor and outdoor instruction
- Clearly define and enforce safety expectations with student
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to support successful program operations
- Demonstrate critical thinking and sound decision-making aligned with training and best practices for youth program
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here represent those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role:
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods
- Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, and manipulate equipment
- Occasional sitting
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Qualifications
- Availability to work set school programming hours.

- Experience in working with ethnic and culturally diverse communities.
- 48+ College Units completed or pass exam.
- TB Test Clearance & Live Scan Clearance (Background check).
