This is a role within the Castrol organisation and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence. If you are part of the ring-fence, it is expected that your employment will move with Castrol to new ownership.
At Castrol, we are committed to growing talent in ways that strengthen our business today and shape our future. As our Talent Management SME – Advancing Talent, you will help us build the leadership and capability we need to thrive. You will work closely with senior leaders and P&C partners to design and deliver talent strategies that support growth, enable succession, and create opportunities for people to develop and succeed.
In this role, you will be a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for all Advancing Talent activities across Castrol. You will guide leaders through critical talent decisions, shape our approach to succession and development, and ensure our talent processes run smoothly and consistently across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Partnering with senior business and P&C leaders to shape advancing‑talent strategy aligned to growth and capability needs.
Designing and delivering programmes covering succession planning, internal mobility, development planning, and talent‑risk mitigation.
Advising leaders on placement decisions for highest‑value and most critical roles.
Building diverse talent pipelines and succession plans for critical roles.
Providing frameworks, tools, and coaching to P&C partners to enable consistent talent practices.
Facilitating evidence‑based, forward‑looking talent discussions aligned with business and inclusion priorities.
Using talent insights, data, and workforce trends to inform decisions and measure impact.
Contributing talent expertise to broader business initiatives and enterprise projects.
Working across P&C partnering, learning, and business teams to deliver integrated talent outcomes and a strong employee value proposition.
Ensuring governance, confidentiality, and an excellent stakeholder experience throughout all talent processes.
Experience & Qualifications
We welcome candidates with a strong background in talent management, leadership development, learning, or broader HR roles within large, complex, matrixed organisations. We value people who bring curiosity, insight, and a collaborative approach to shaping talent outcomes.
Experience should include:
Designing, implementing, and scaling global talent or learning programmes.
Navigating complex stakeholder environments and influencing senior leaders.
Using talent data and analytics (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to support decision‑making.
Managing external vendors, including consultancies and specialist providers.
Delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Supporting organisational change and capability building.
Contributing talent expertise to broader business initiatives and cross‑functional projects.
Technical Capabilities
We are looking for someone who brings strong capability across talent management, project management, commercial acumen, and change leadership. You will be confident designing and delivering talent and development interventions, managing multiple programmes simultaneously, and ensuring our partnerships with external providers deliver real value. You will use digital tools and analytics to enhance our talent solutions, build measurement frameworks that demonstrate impact, and apply performance‑consulting skills to identify root causes and shape sustainable solutions.
Behavioural Strengths
We value people who think broadly, act with purpose, and help others succeed. In this role, you will bring strategic and critical thinking, strong communication and influencing skills, and the ability to build alignment across diverse teams. You will approach challenges with a growth mindset, stay curious about evolving talent needs, and look for opportunities to improve how we work. Collaboration, customer focus, and sound judgement are essential, along with the discretion needed to handle sensitive information and act as a trusted advisor.
