Job Description

Talent Acquisition Partner

Application Deadline: 26 June 2026

Department: Human Resources

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Wigan & Leigh College

Reporting To: Marc Murray

Compensation: £42,540 - £45,119 / year

Permanent. 37 Hours per week.
Find great people. Keep recruitment moving. Help our college grow.

We know that great people change lives and this role helps us find them.

Every appointment matters. The right lecturer can change how a student sees their future. The right technician can keep a workshop running safely and confidently. The right pastoral colleague can make the whole college feel more human.

As our Talent Acquisition Partner, you’ll help us find those people. You’ll work with managers to understand what they really need, shape adverts that sound like us, keep vacancies moving and make sure candidates get a clear, warm and professional experience from first click to offer.

This is a role for someone who likes pace, detail and ownership. You’ll know what is live, what is stuck, what is at risk and what needs to happen next. You’ll use data, judgement and good relationships to help managers make better recruitment decisions.

You’ll also help us raise the standard of recruitment across the college. Better adverts. Better candidate communication. Better routes to market. Better first impressions.

What you'll do

  • Keep live vacancies moving from approval through to offer and pre-employment handover.
  • Work with managers to agree campaign plans, timelines, shortlisting dates and interview arrangements.
  • Write adverts that sound like Wigan & Leigh and help the right people see themselves in the role.
  • Challenge unclear role information, generic adverts and unrealistic timescales in a constructive way.
  • Spot delays, risks and hard-to-fill roles early, then take practical action to unblock them.
  • Use recruitment data to track campaign performance, candidate numbers, appointment rates and drop-off points.
  • Give clear updates to HR, managers and senior leaders so everyone knows what is happening and what needs attention.
  • Support safe, fair and inclusive recruitment in line with college procedures and safer recruitment expectations.

What you'll bring

  • Experience in recruitment, talent acquisition or HR with a strong recruitment focus.
  • The ability to manage several vacancies at once without losing the detail.
  • Strong writing skills. You can turn role information into adverts people actually want to read.
  • Confidence advising managers on campaigns, selection and candidate attraction.
  • Good judgement. You know when to move quickly and when to pause and check.
  • Confidence using recruitment systems, vacancy trackers, data and reports.
  • A clear understanding of fair, inclusive and structured recruitment.
  • Experience in education, public services or another regulated sector would be helpful, but is not essential.
What you're like
  • Organised. You keep hold of the detail and make sure nothing drifts.
  • Proactive. You spot issues early and take ownership.
  • Practical. You help managers move from discussion to action.
  • Curious. You want to understand the labour market and what attracts people to roles.
  • Confident. You can challenge constructively when something is unclear or unlikely to work.
  • People-focused. You care about candidate experience and the people our college needs.
Essentials
  • You’ll need an enhanced DBS check. If you get the job, we’ll do this for you.
  • You’re committed to safeguarding and inclusion.
  • You can travel across our sites.
  • You’re flexible and happy to work beyond standard hours when needed to support the college.
  • You’re comfortable working with confidential and sensitive information.
