UCT is looking for a talented Tacker to join us in Austin, TX!

The Tacker plays a critical role in the fabrication process by accurately fitting, aligning, and preparing tubing, flanges, fittings, and assemblies for welding in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. This role applies knowledge of geometry, welding principles, material behavior, and weld shrinkage to ensure proper assembly fit-up and dimensional accuracy. By interpreting blueprints, following workmanship and quality standards, and collaborating with production teams, the Tacker helps ensure efficient manufacturing flow, high-quality welded assemblies, and compliance with customer and company requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to perform layout, orientations, alignments, of parts in accordance with prints.
  • Fit together cut tubing, micro fits, flanges, or assemblies, according to blueprint and layout specifications, preparatory to welding.
  • Plans sequence of operation, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat, and allowances for weld shrinkage and thickness of metal.
  • Know the basic welding symbols, welding gases, straightening and tweaking techniques and heat shrinkage.
  • Follow company policies regarding workmanship standards, quality policy, and customer specifications.
  • Attendance is an essential job function.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Able to read blueprints and able to build according to print.
  • Know the basic welding symbols, welding gases, straightening and tweaking techniques and heat shrinkage.
  • Follow company policies in regard to workmanship standards, quality policy, and customer specifications.
  • Ability to work OT.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Certification a plus.

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

  • Semiconductor experiences a plus.

  • Ability to move arms, hands and fingers.
  • Ability to sit for sustained periods of time.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Prolonged sitting with some standing and bending intermittently during work hours.
  • Subject to interruptions.

Environmental Exposure:

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers, faxes, computers etc.
