TAC Engineer 1 - SoftwareThis role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

We are looking for a motivated TAC Engineer 1 - Software to join our global technical support team in Bangalore. The role involves providing support for enterprise networking and Network Access Control (NAC) solutions, primarily based on ClearPass.

The engineer will support global customers through phone, email, and chat, assisting in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to network connectivity, authentication, and access control.

This is a hybrid working role and an excellent opportunity to build strong expertise in enterprise networking and security technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for networking and ClearPass-related issues to global customers
  • Troubleshoot wired and wireless network connectivity and authentication issues
  • Work on access control problems involving 802.1X, RADIUS, and guest authentication
  • Analyse logs, configurations, and basic packet captures for troubleshooting
  • Document issues, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions in ticketing tools
  • Collaborate with senior engineers for escalations and complex cases
  • Follow defined processes and SLAs in a 24x7 support environment

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Networking, or related field
  • Candidates with networking training, certifications, internships, or strong technical aptitude will be preferred
  • Typically, 1+ years’ experience.
  • Advanced English Level

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals:
    • OSI Model and TCP/IP
    • IP addressing and subnetting
    • ARP, DHCP, DNS
    • VLANs and switching basics
    • Routing fundamentals (basic static routing)
    • Broadcast, multicast, and unicast traffic
    • STP and link aggregation basics
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Network authentication concepts (AAA, 802.1X, RADIUS)
    • Network security fundamentals
    • Wireless networking basics
    • Basic Active Directory and LDAP awareness
  • Basic Linux knowledge:
    • Command-line usage
    • Log navigation and troubleshooting basics
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a structured support environment

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

  • Exposure to Network Access Control (NAC) or ClearPass (internship / project / training)
  • Certifications such as CCNA / CWNA / RHCSA or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of Wireshark or packet capture tools
  • Basic scripting exposure (optional)
