This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, coding solutions, unit testing, and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements
  • Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities
  • Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements
  • Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
  • Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • This developer will learn and operate within a legacy technology stack (e.g., mainframe, batch, ETL, legacy APIs, procedural codebases) while partnering with engineers, architects, and product/operations teams to define, prototype, and recommend modernization strategies. The role emphasizes system understanding, risk-managed change, and the use of AI-assisted approaches to accelerate discovery, documentation, and migration planning.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of application programming experience
  • Experience with Angular/SQL, with willingness to review and understand legacy tech stack including COBOL.
  • Experience with the MS Office Suite of Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must have experience using Development Tools and Version Control Software
  • Excellent analytical, software design and documentation skills
  • Enhance and support mainframe-based application heavy in VSAM and flat-files, with non-structured COBOL
  • Has experience debugging applications in a production support role

Desired Qualifications:

  • Ability to work on multiple deliverables simultaneously, adhere to tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong organization skills
  • Experience with the development models and software development lifecycle (SDLC) model, Working on Agile teams and experience with Agile is required.
  • Proficiency in JIRA
  • Competency with VISIO and SSRS would be a plus
  • Competency in CICS would be great but not required
