Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI) - French Immersion Teacher - Grade 9 to 12

FTE: 1.00 – Temporary

The expected start date is August 25th, 2026, and is anticipated to complete on June 29, 2027, or will be based on the return of the incumbent.

The School

Lethbridge Collegiate Institute endeavors to provide a safe, supportive and challenging learning environment with a diverse academic program as well as many choices for athletics and fine arts. LCI partners with the University of Lethbridge to offer Dual Credit courses, supporting just over 1550 students. Subjects

Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI) is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled French Immersion teacher to deliver Social Studies and/or Science courses at the high school level (Grades 9–12). The successful candidate will demonstrate strong subject knowledge, fluency in French, and a commitment to fostering student success in a second-language learning environment.

• Teach assigned Social Studies and/or Science courses in French aligned with grade 9-12 provincial curriculum

• Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that promote critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving
• Integrate language and content instruction to support French immersion learners
• Use a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies
• Create an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment
• Support students in developing both academic and linguistic proficiency
• Collaborate with colleagues in immersion and non-immersion programs
• Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and staff (in French and English as appropriate)
• Participate in school-wide and department initiatives

Requirements

• Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School

Division who are offered employment must provide:

• A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
• A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
• Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
• Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
