The Technical Lead, Software Engineering, Digital Banking ( Core Banking ) is part of the team that will enable EQ Bank’s Challenger Bank aspiration: A banking platform to put the power in customers’ hands. Every feature we build is designed to give our customers an edge over their money to maximize their potential. You will use cloud-native technologies and product-centric agile methodologies to manage multiple cross-functional pods dedicated to launching new products, features, and ongoing business value for our digital bank apps.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Engineering, you will help drive forwards the evolution our core banking platform to support our modern, API-driven micro-services architecture using foundational Azure Cloud, DevOps, API, and PaaS services to deliver dozens of production releases per month. You will lead a cross-functional team through all areas of Agile Software Development and will partner closely with Digital Banking Business and Product teams to prioritize and deliver outcome driven solutions. This will include enabling MVP approaches and faster learning towards our customer goals and objectives.
The Technical Lead, Engineering will focus on ensuring feasibility of sprint stories and tasks, code quality and sprint velocity. The incumbent will work closely with the team members to ensure the pod is following agile development principles, including backlog grooming and estimation, sprint planning, code reviews and test automation. The Technical Lead will also be responsible for issue tracking, unblocking engineers and driving forward sprint progress.
As the T24 Application Specialist, Digital Banking, you’ll be expected to collaborate with our Products and existing pods by providing technical support in the form of assessment/analysis, integration, development and troubleshoot for our T24 platformassignment types.
The T24 Application Specialist, Digital Banking works under direct management and their work is reviewed by the Associate Director, Core Banking.
The incumbent should be internally motivated, and constantly strive to find innovative ways to enhance capability, methodology and practice; always be looking to maximize business value by balancing strategic technology plans with speed of delivery.
T24 system under your care is a core banking system with multi-million $ value and the recipient of serious funding investments ongoing by Equitable. The projects that you will be involved in delivering will involve significant dollar values so you will use your experience to make sure everything app related is managed with great diligence, and that Temenos vendor gaps are addressed in a way that does not impeded progress of Equitable’s objectives or day to day work. This role has been specifically created to enable us to deliver with pace and clarity.
The position requires the ability to work with a wide range of computer technologies and thus a good understanding of each of our technology elements is important. T24 Application Specialist, Digital Banking is expected to be able to perform initial analysis on technical problems, apply fixes based on their technical knowledge, and exercise their judgement to escalate the issue to the Manager of IT and/or the vendor appropriately and promptly.
The objectives provided for project tasks and other technical tasks will be clear and exact but will not be down to step-by-step instructions. The T24 Application Specialist, Digital Banking is expected to be able to complete the objectives with self-initiative or go back to the requestor to get more details.
The incumbent is expected to understand and observe IT policies and procedures and work under the direction of the Manager of IT to ensure that they are followed by all staff. The incumbent is expected to think independently, understand the business needs, critically review the business requirements and make design and implementation decisions.

The incumbent will directly contribute to assessing business needs, designing solutions, and implementing secure and scalable solutions to serve the Bank’s customers and grow the business. They must assist in the identification of opportunities and develop recommendations to minimize risk, improve service capability and reduce costs. They will be required to evaluate problems within their domain to provide expert advice and recommendations for course of action to senior leadership.
