Job Description Summary
Instructor will support transition to employment and post secondary education for 16-21 year olds with Autism Spectrum Disorder by using the T- STEP program developed by TEACCH Autism Program at the UNC School of Medicine. Instructor will provide a broad range of personal, academic, and career counseling services related to goal setting, executive function, emotion regulation, and social skills.

Duties
1-Establish and maintain a coaching relationship with students in designated caseload to provide academic coaching, case management, and college transition services.
2-Provide students with academic success strategies which facilitate a successful transition to college-level courses, foster retention, and promote completion of credentials.
3-Provide information regarding specific areas of study, as well as general knowledge of college and program requirements.
4-Monitor, document and track student attendance and academic progress.
5-Participate in the development and presentation of workshops and other activities focused on transitioning to college and student success.
6-Utilize technology to effectively monitor student progression toward credential completion and record student interactions.
7-Deliver timely and accurate information to students about resources and services available such as financial aid, disability support, academic services/support, registration assistance, housing, transportation, and personal counseling.
8-Work collaboratively with other entities within and without of the college to provide appropriate services to students.
9-Contact active and inactive students to assist them with progressing to completion and/or returning to college.

Minimum Requirements
1-Experience in communication skills, listening, writing, and speaking;
2-Experience working with MS Office products;
3-Experience in multi-tasking, troubleshooting problems, and ability to create resolutions with minimum supervision.


Preferred Qualifications
1-Teaching experience.
2-Experience working with a Community College System.
3-Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
