The Systems Technical Specialist is responsible for the technical support, administration, automation, and lifecycle management of infrastructure and application environments that support attraction systems and related operational technologies. This role focuses on maintaining high availability, standardization, security, and recoverability across production systems that directly impact guest-facing operations.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience supporting complex infrastructure environments, using configuration management tools such as Chef, building automation through scripting, and contributing to CI/CD and system deployment practices. This individual should be comfortable troubleshooting across operating systems, middleware, network connectivity, system integrations, and deployment pipelines in a highly operational environment.

This is an on-site position reporting to Manager, Attractions System Support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support for attraction-related infrastructure, servers, virtual machines, endpoints, applications, and connected operational systems.

  • Administer and support Windows and/or Linux-based systems in production environments with a focus on uptime, resiliency, and operational readiness.

  • Use Chef or similar configuration management tools to automate provisioning, configuration enforcement, patching, software deployment, and baseline compliance.

  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot automation scripts using tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.

  • Support and improve CI/CD workflows for infrastructure and application deployments, including build, test, release, and rollback processes where applicable.

  • Partner with software engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operations teams to deploy and maintain reliable systems for attraction environments.

  • Monitor system performance, service health, logs, and alerts; investigate incidents and drive timely issue resolution.

  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring technical issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Manage system configuration, version control, deployment artifacts, and environment consistency across development, test, and production platforms.

  • Support operating system patching, software upgrades, certificate management, system hardening, backup validation, and disaster recovery readiness.

  • Troubleshoot issues spanning infrastructure, application services, storage, network connectivity, authentication, and device/system integrations.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams, support procedures, automation workflows, and operational runbooks.

  • Participate in change management, release validation, maintenance activities, and on-call support rotations as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in systems support, systems administration, site reliability, infrastructure operations, or a similar technical support role in a production environment.

  • Hands-on experience with Chef for configuration management, deployment automation, or infrastructure standardization.

  • Experience writing and maintaining scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.

  • Experience supporting or contributing to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.

  • Strong understanding of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.

  • Familiarity with source control systems such as Git and standard versioning practices.

  • Experience troubleshooting infrastructure and application issues across servers, services, logs, and network dependencies.

  • Understanding of core infrastructure concepts such as virtualization, storage, system monitoring, backups, patching, and access management.

  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, TLS/SSL, firewalls, and port/connectivity troubleshooting.

  • Ability to analyze logs, isolate issues, and resolve incidents in complex, integrated environments.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across technical and operational teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience supporting attraction systems, industrial control-supporting environments, operational technology, or other high-availability guest-facing systems.

  • Experience with additional automation or infrastructure-as-code tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, or Jenkins.

  • Familiarity with artifact repositories, build automation, deployment orchestration, and release management tooling.

  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.

  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability platforms such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar tools.

  • Familiarity with database connectivity, middleware platforms, service accounts, certificate management, and application dependencies.

  • Understanding of cybersecurity controls, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration practices for infrastructure and operational systems.

  • Experience in environments with formal incident, problem, and change management processes.
