The Systems Specialist - Controls Engineering is responsible for independently executing and contributing to Automation and Controls Engineering projects at Cytiva, ensuring that high-quality solutions are delivered within established timelines and quality standards. This role involves designing and implementing innovative industrial automation solutions for Life Sciences Bio-Process applications, including HMI, PLC, DCS software development, and hardware integration, while maintaining adherence to global best practices in functionality, reliability, and serviceability

This position reports to the Manager Automation Engineering and is part of the CTO, R&D team located in Bengaluru and will be an on-site role. At Cytiva, our vision is to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.

What you will do:

  • Execute automation software development lifecycle, including design, configuration, simulation/modeling, testing, verification, and validation activities, ensuring quality deliverables aligned with project requirements and standards.
  • Support the development, enhancement, and sustainment of bioprocess automation systems, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver project milestones and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Execute engineering change activities, including Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), in accordance with established quality processes, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to improve product performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams and stakeholders, contributing to technical discussions, sharing knowledge, and supporting successful project execution. Participate in continuous learning and knowledge-sharing activities, applying new skills and best practices to enhance engineering effectiveness and team capabilities.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in industrial automation and control system software development, with hands-on involvement across the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, verification, validation, and release.
  • Strong experience in the design, development, and troubleshooting of HMI/SCADA and PLC programming on at least two major automation platforms such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, AVEVA System Platform.
  • Good understanding of industrial automation architectures, hardware interfaces, communication protocols, and process control concepts, including PID control strategies and field device integration. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver effective solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with PLM, and project management tools such as Azure DevOps, ALM, Jira, MAGIC, or equivalent platforms for requirements management, defect tracking, and change control. Knowledge of software verification and validation methodologies, including test planning, execution, defect management, root cause analysis, and documentation.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in bioprocess, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or regulated industrial environments. Exposure to 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP5, GMP, CSV, or other regulated system development practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools. Experience with industrial networking protocols such as Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA, Modbus, Profibus, or Profinet.
  • Proficient in authoring and reviewing standard operating procedures, technical evaluation reports, and other controlled documents.
