This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the in Tallahassee, FL in the Office of Information Technology.

The mission of the Office of Technology in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide innovative, reliable, and secure technology solutions that support the Department's operations and strategic goals.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Provides centralized security access administration and support for various computer systems, applications, platforms and devices. Utilizes communication, analytical and problem resolution skills to help resolve security and access control problems for users, clients, and technical support staff.
  • Assists in the administration and support of Microsoft 365/Exchange services and works as primary point of contact for email account provisioning. This includes but is not limited to the creation, configuration, troubleshooting, documentation and security administration for user email accounts and mailboxes within the FDC email environment.
  • Provides tier 2 and 3 technical supports for Windows-based server operating systems and within the Enterprise. It involves in-depth knowledge in the areas of Windows Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, Cloud services (Azure & AWS), DNS, DHCP, Exchange Server, IIS, and Office 365.
  • Supports enterprise-class server systems for a variety of business needs and challenges and communicates clearly with end-users, peers, and management, providing technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Plan, evaluate, install and advise on technical systems software, file management and related areas as part of projects within the office of Information Technology. This position is part of the team that supports the Departments IT operations and is involved in a wide range of technologies.
  • Performs the analysis, design, security patching, hardware and software support, hardware analysis and recommendations for servers as it relates to hardware capacity upgrades, software or operating system upgrades.
  • Performs the installation, troubleshooting, security patching, hardware and software analysis, and overall support for midrange server operating systems. Performs design, tuning, and troubleshooting of system problems with relational databases on midrange and small systems. This includes analysis of system capacity planning and monitoring.
  • Supports regional and Central Office OIT staff by performing problem resolution, conducting training, & providing assistance in the installation, configuration, and modification of the hardware and systems software of distributed systems.
  • Provides after hours “On-Call” support on an as-needed basis.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable in systems administration of Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022/2025.
  • Knowledgeable in Active Directory Domain Services administration, support and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively.
  • Knowledge of M365 administration.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based computing, both AWS and Azure.
  • Knowledge of networking and LAN/WAN concepts.
  • Knowledge of active directory federation services.
  • Knowledge of computer operations procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages.
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of experience working with Active Directory.
  • Must have at least three (3) years of experience with Windows server based operating systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two (2) years of experience with MS Exchange/M365 administration.
  • Three (3) years of experience with Infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
  • Hands-on experience and/or training in Microsoft Azure or other cloud-based services.

Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
