Job Description

As a Systems Engineer II, you will design, configure, integrate, test, implement and support industrial networking and Telecom and Security Integrated Solutions for Process Automation projects. The role is intended for an engineer who already has practical DCS or Experion PKS experience and is motivated to develop deeper specialization in industrial networking, virtualization, telecom and industrial security solutions.

You will work at the interface between DCS and TSI, helping ensure that Experion PKS, network infrastructure, virtualized system nodes and integrated telecom and security subsystems operate as a coordinated solution. You will collaborate with project engineers, Application Engineers, systems engineers, hardware engineers, cybersecurity specialists, global subject-matter experts, customers and third-party suppliers.

You will report directly to the Mexico Projects & Automation Solutions Global Project Execution Leader. This position is based in Mexico City, Mexico, and will support projects and customer industrial sites primarily across the Americas region. The role follows a hybrid work arrangement when the engineer is not travelling or working at a customer site.

  • Design and document network and system architectures supporting Experion PKS, DCS servers and stations, virtualized nodes, TSI subsystems and associated OT infrastructure.
Configure and support industrial Ethernet networks, switches, routers, VLANs, redundant network topologies, domain services, time synchronization and network management components within the assigned project scope.
Support DCS system infrastructure, including Experion servers and stations, Windows domains, virtualization platforms (Nutanix & VMWare), engineering workstations and interfaces to third-party systems.
Design and integrate applicable TSI subsystems such as access control, intrusion detection, perimeter intrusion detection, CCTV or process video, public address and general alarm, telephony, radio, network management and related industrial communications solutions.
Prepare and maintain engineering documents such as system architectures, network diagrams, functional design specifications, detailed design documents, interface descriptions, bills of materials, I/O or point lists, test procedures and as-built records.
Participate in technical reviews with customers, EPCs, project teams, suppliers and global subject-matter experts to clarify requirements, interfaces, responsibilities and acceptance criteria.
Perform or support system configuration, staging, integration testing, FAT, SAT, commissioning, troubleshooting and optimization at Honeywell facilities, remote environments and customer industrial sites.
Analyze network, virtualization, DCS and subsystem issues using a structured troubleshooting approach and document findings, corrective actions and lessons learned.
Coordinate third-party subsystem information and confirm alignment with the overall ICSS architecture and project requirements.
Follow Honeywell quality processes, cybersecurity requirements, Global Project Methodology, Project Engineering Modernization practices and project document-control expectations.
Use Internal tools where applicable, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio and approved Artificial Intelligence tools to prepare, review and control engineering work products.
Build reusable knowledge, templates and technical guidance and share lessons learned with the local team and global engineering community.
Travel to industrial customer sites across the Americas for project implementation, testing, commissioning and technical support, subject to project needs.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Control Engineering, Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related engineering field.
4+ years of practical experience with a DCS or industrial control platform, including system architecture, servers and stations, system integration, testing, commissioning or troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish in technical and project environments.
Demonstrated interest in developing a primary specialization in industrial networking and Telecom and Security Integrated Solutions.
Demonstrated understanding of Ethernet and IP networking, including switching, routing, VLANs, addressing, redundancy, and structured troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and develop technical specifications, architecture drawings, network diagrams, interface documents and test procedures.
Availability to travel to customer industrial sites for short- or extended-duration assignments according to project requirements.
Strong self-learning behavior, collaboration skills and commitment to high-quality engineering results.

WE VALUE

  • Experion PKS experience with servers, stations, FTE, domains, virtualization, system integration or third-party interfaces.
Experience with industrial switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, network monitoring or OT cybersecurity practices.
Experience with virtualization platforms and virtualized DCS or industrial application deployments.
Experience with one or more TSI domains: CCTV or process video, access control, intrusion detection, perimeter detection, public address and general alarm, telephony, radio or network management systems.
Experience integrating industrial security solutions with DCS, fire and gas, safety or other ICSS subsystems.
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, virtualization, cybersecurity or equivalent vendor credentials.
Experience working with EPC contractors, customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Experience supporting FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting at industrial facilities.
Knowledge of Modbus TCP, OPC UA, IEC 61850, SNMP or other industrial and infrastructure protocols.
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio for engineering delivery.
Ability to transform project experience into reusable standards, templates, lessons learned and technical coaching.
