The Opportunity:

Join CACI as a Systems Engineer / Product Owner Proxy and contribute to a dynamic counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) mission that directly impacts Army warfighters. In this role, you will apply systems engineering skill sets to serve as the technical and mission-focused POP for an agile team, bridging stakeholder intent, systems engineering rigor, portfolio strategy, and agile execution. This role is accountable for driving portfolio roadmap initiatives and capabilities, translating operational and system requirements into executable agile work, and ensuring alignment across architecture, integration, verification, and delivery.

The Systems Engineer/ Product Owner operates at the intersection of systems engineering, software and hardware development, operations, and program leadership, ensuring delivered capabilities meet mission objectives, technical constraints, quality standards, and contractual commitments.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a vibrant team of engineers in a culture that values information sharing and teamwork.
  • Provide systems engineering support for system lifecycle processes and activities
  • Apply systems engineering principles and lifecycle processes as a core part of day-to-day product ownership responsibilities
  • Act as the technical voice of the customer for the Agile team
  • Own and manage the product backlog for an Agile team, ensuring prioritization based on mission value, requirements, risk, dependencies, and technical readiness
  • Collaborate with Scrum Master, other POs, developers, and Program Management to support sprint and release planning
  • Lead backlog refinement to ensure sprint backlogs are prioritized and tickets are groomed with clear, verifiable acceptance criteria
  • Support management of portfolio roadmap initiatives and capabilities for the assigned product or value stream
  • Collaborate with Test Team to align development with verification and validation strategies, planning, and execution
  • Perform systems-level analysis to support prioritization, trade studies, and technical decision-making
  • Coordinate with test engineers, systems engineers, operations and field support, hardware and software developers, and adjacent programs.

Qualifications:

  • Current Top Secret (TS) clearance with the ability to obtain SCI
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering
  • 2+ years of experience working in Agile development as a Product Owner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related field.
  • Experience working in Agile / Scrum / SAFe environments.
  • Experience with the standard Systems Engineering “V” processes and lifecycle.
  • Experience with requirements development, decomposition, and traceability across the system lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage daily activities.

Desired:

  • Product Owner (CSPO, SAFe POPM) certification
  • INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification
  • Experience with hardware–software integrated systems
  • Experience with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) software and hardware.
  • Familiarity with MBSE practices and tools (e.g., SysML, UAF, Cameo, MagicDraw)
  • Experience with C-UAS and/or RF software and hardware systems.
  • Familiarity with radio frequency (RF) systems and test equipment (spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal generator, multimeter etc.)
  • Understanding of SDR (Software Defined Radio) systems.
  • Experience with SATCOM systems.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence toolset.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$94,400 - $198,200
