We are looking for a Software Systems Engineer to join our governanceteam. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the reliability,interoperabilityand safety of our vessel control and autonomy software. You’ll design future integrations for vessel automation and ensure all uncrewed vessels can be operated seamlessly from a unified remote operations centre.
Your Role
You design integrations for vessel- or job-specific automations that align with Fugro’s integration standards;
You maintain structured documentation of vessel control designs to support engineering, certification, and classification processes;
You define data exchange structures and protocols based on industry standards to maximize the value of our data-rich robotic platforms;
You enable seamless integration with digital twin solutions;
You develop verification schemas and example communication flows;
You support modularization of software components and ensure proper functionality assignment.
Your Track Record
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience developing data and processing models.
Familiarity with architectural patterns such as functional layers, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
Experience with real-time communications and protocols such as MQTT, DDS, ModBus, CAN, OPC-UA.
Understanding of SCADA systems, PLCs, IIoT, and distributed control systems.
Strong communication and coordination skills.
Proactive mindset with ownership and decision-making capabilities.
Bonus Points
Experience with maritime or autonomous systems.
Knowledge of high-availability systems.
Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and cloud-based testing environments.
