Job Description

Systems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.
Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.

  • Project engineer of digital control systems (DCS). Execute projects in collaboration with project engineering departments (CCS, Consulting, Service), Project Management, Procurement, Tendering and other support functions.
  • SCADA system configuration (screens, equipment integration, communication protocols, digital/analog signals, events, alarms).
  • L1/L2 IEDS Configuration (parametrization, digital/analog signals, events, alarms).
  • Act as the prime technical customer contact for the execution of the project, , ensuring close collaboration with local teams.
  • Support during the definition of technical solutions together with the TAE, ensuring alignment between customer needs, engineering capabilities and project scope.
  • Design of communication network architecture and configuration. Communication protocols: IEC 61850, Modbus, OPC, EGD, IEC 104.
  • Configuration of protection and control equipment at logical and communications level.
  • Support in project management (internal validation tests, FAT tests, creation and review of documentation).
  • Coordination with different departments (manufacturing, services, tendering).
  • Provide support during project execution and, when required, participate in on‑site system commissioning and system start‑up activities to ensure successful delivery.
  • Be accountable for on‑time delivery, project operating margins improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Process continuous improvement. Contribute to operations department development and South Europe Region continuous improvement.
  • Support commercial team by return of experience, optimizing project cost and deliveries.
  • Follow GE compliance policies and promote open reporting.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Understanding of systems, networks, and communications.
  • IT‑oriented mindset with a proactive approach to learning and applying new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Electricity Transmission, Distribution & Industrial markets.
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel.
  • Languages: Fully fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Autonomy & rigor.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus and ability to cooperate with different departments.
  • Availability for occasional domestic and international travel.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of electrical system operation.
  • Experience with database creation and management (Microsoft Access) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in electrical communication protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 104, IEC 103, Modbus, DNP, OPC, EGD, etc.).
  • Previous experience in programming, with proficiency in one or more languages such as VBA, Python, C, JavaScript, or similar. Familiarity with PLC programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply programming skills to optimize processes, automate tasks, and develop internal tools.
  • Cybersecurity knowledge.
  • Initiative and attention to detail.
  • Motivation and desire to learn.
  • Immediate incorporation.
  • Other languages valued (French, Italian and/or Portuguese)
