You will be the Systems Engineer – Reliability and Maintainability Level 3 supporting the Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) team. The R&M team works across the engineering lifecycle to ensure system designs support safe, effective, and affordable operation and maintenance.
In this role, you will influence system and product design decisions to improve maintainability, reduce lifecycle cost, and support operational readiness. You will work closely with systems engineering, design engineering, logistics, test, and other specialty engineering disciplines to identify maintainability risks, evaluate design alternatives, and develop practical solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Perform Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) to define maintenance actions, task sequences, task times, personnel requirements, tools, support equipment, and other maintenance resources.
Evaluate system and equipment designs for accessibility, modularity, interchangeability, standardization, fault detection, and fault isolation
Develop and assess Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) and other maintainability metrics to identify design drivers and recommend improvements.
Define, evaluate, and validate maintenance concepts and support strategies, including organizational, intermediate, and depot-level maintenance.
Assess maintenance requirements for support equipment, tools, facilities, personnel skill levels, and technical data
Identify maintainability risks and opportunities early in the design process and work with engineering teams to incorporate improvements into the system design.
Develop and present maintainability analyses, technical findings, and recommendations at engineering reviews and program meetings.
Support integration of reliability, maintainability, logistics, and systems engineering analyses throughout the product lifecycle.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less-experienced engineers.
You are an independent and technically capable engineer who understands how reliability and maintainability considerations influence system design and operational performance. You are comfortable working across engineering disciplines, leading technical discussions, analyzing complex problems, and communicating clear recommendations.
You bring a practical, analytical approach to engineering and are able to translate maintainability analysis into actionable design guidance that improves system readiness, supportability, and lifecycle performance.
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
