Job Description

We’ve been proudly serving Australian communities since 1914 and have grown to become a top 30-listed company on the ASX with a portfolio of iconic homegrown brands. At the heart of our continued success is over 115,000 team members working across the country, all contributing to bringing our customers smiles. You’ll not only get to see your work make a difference, you’ll be part of a team working together to help Australians eat and live better every day.

About the team

Our Technology team is the backbone of the business, building and maintaining the information technology infrastructure that support Coles Group. As a part of the Technology team, you get the opportunity to work through complex, challenging, meaningful problems using large data sets and new technologies to expand your skills and experience.

You’ll join our Technology function, working on the ServiceNow platform that supports Technology, Security, Digital and Business teams. The team is focused on keeping the platform stable, secure and maintainable while enabling reliable integrations, automation and service management capabilities across a large and complex environment.

About the role

As a ServiceNow Systems Engineer, you’ll work alongside experienced ServiceNow engineers in a fast-moving, evolving technology environment, with ServiceNow forming a critical technology backbone across the organisation.

You’ll support the health, stability and security of production and non-production environments, while delivering regular upgrades, releases, clones and new platform functionality. You’ll work across ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, Vulnerability Response, Change Velocity DevOps, Service Portal, Virtual Agent, Walk-up Experience, Remote Tables, Discovery, MID Servers and adaptive authentication.

You’ll design and build secure integrations using Integration Hub, spokes, REST and SOAP, support SAML, OAuth and mTLS, and improve CMDB and Asset data quality across on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments.

You’ll also contribute to exciting projects and rewarding BAU work, building applications, scripts, flows, business rules and automation using configuration-first principles, JavaScript and PowerShell. Extensive ServiceNow experience is essential, ideally across ITOM and Now Assist.

About you and your skills

You’re a hands-on ServiceNow engineer who understands the platform beyond ticketing. You can independently troubleshoot platform, integration and CMDB issues, deliver well-designed changes and work effectively alongside experienced engineers on larger initiatives.

  • Strong hands-on ServiceNow experience across administration, configuration, scripting, upgrades and operational support.
  • Practical experience with ITSM and ITOM, including CMDB, Discovery and Asset Management in a large or complex environment.
  • Experience with MID Servers, Discovery, Service Graph Connectors, credentials, certificates and platform connectivity.
  • Good understanding of CMDB data quality, CI relationships, identification and reconciliation, with exposure to CSDM.
  • Experience with Integration Hub, spokes, REST/SOAP APIs and authentication including SAML, OAuth and mTLS.
  • Strong JavaScript skills across Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts and other ServiceNow scripting patterns.
  • Experience building automation using Flow Designer / Workflow Studio, flows, subflows and reusable actions.
  • Good understanding of roles, groups, ACLs and secure platform and integration design.
  • Experience troubleshooting platform, workflow, integration, authentication and performance issues.
  • Experience with Service Portal and AngularJS; UI Builder or Configurable Workspace exposure is desirable.
  • Familiarity with update sets, testing, release practices and ATF.
  • Practical PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Able to work effectively with engineers, architects, security, delivery teams, vendors and business stakeholders.
  • Exposure to Jelly, Now Assist or other ServiceNow AI capabilities is desirable.
  • Relevant ServiceNow certifications.

You’ll join a collaborative team where your ServiceNow expertise will help strengthen platform reliability, improve engineering outcomes and enable better experiences for teams across the business.
