The Systems Engineer Lead leads day-to-day systems and cloud engineering operations for the Mosaic Infrastructure Managed Services engagement, overseeing a team responsible for server, cloud, storage, middleware, IAM, and database platforms across the client's roughly 60-site footprint in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Peru, and Paraguay. This role combines senior hands-on engineering with team leadership, ensuring the data center and cloud environment is reliable, secure, and scaled appropriately, while working closely with the Cloud/Infrastructure Architect on design and standards.
• Lead the day-to-day work of the systems and cloud engineering team, assigning and prioritizing tickets, changes, and projects across Sr./Jr. System & Cloud Engineers and Database Administrators.
• Provide hands-on senior-level engineering support for complex server, virtualization, storage, and cloud issues that require escalation beyond Tier 2/3.
• Partner with the Cloud/Infrastructure Architect to implement data center and cloud designs, standards, and capacity plans across the managed server and database estate.
• Own server and database capacity management, monitoring headroom against the account's volume/growth model and recommending scaling actions.
• Oversee patch management and vulnerability remediation for the server estate, coordinating with the NOC's patching team (NOC Analyst Sr.) and Security.
• Lead identity and access management (IAM), middleware, and cross-platform server operations coverage across the team.
• Coordinate database administration oversight, ensuring performance, backup/recovery, and availability standards are met across managed databases.
• Serve as an escalation point for major systems/cloud incidents, driving root cause analysis and remediation.
• Support data center and cloud migration, consolidation, or transition projects, including planning and execution oversight.
• Mentor and develop System & Cloud Engineer Sr./Jr. staff and Database Administrators, including onboarding to the client environment and ongoing technical skill-building.
• Maintain accurate documentation of the server, cloud, and database architecture as it evolves.
• Ensure compliance with client and Auxis security and change management policies across the managed systems estate.
5+ years of hands-on experience in Systems Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or a related field, including 2+ years in a Lead or supervisory role.
Strong experience managing enterprise server environments, including Windows Server and/or Linux.
Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V, and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Solid understanding of storage, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery concepts and technologies.
Experience supporting multi-country or multi-region infrastructure environments.
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to resolve complex cross-platform issues.
Solid understanding of ITIL change and incident management processes.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering teams.
Microsoft or cloud certification, such as Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or AWS Solutions Architect.
Experience with database platforms, including SQL Server, Oracle, or similar technologies.
Experience with middleware and Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms.
Experience working in a managed services or outsourced IT environment supporting enterprise clients.
Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese.
ITIL Foundation certification.
