Kadiak LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced, motivated Integration Architect to support the Indian Health Service (IHS) Health Information Technology Modernization Program. The Integration Architect is a senior engineering position that provides enterprise systems integration, interoperability architecture, and systems engineering expertise to support the modernization, implementation, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise healthcare information systems.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, the Integration Architect develops technical solutions and recommendations, evaluates engineering artifacts, supports architecture and integration planning, identifies technical dependencies and risks, and assists IHS in evaluating technical approaches throughout the system lifecycle. The position collaborates closely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, product management, deployment, testing, engineering process, and implementation teams to help ensure enterprise solutions are scalable, interoperable, secure, maintainable, and operationally ready.
The Integration Architect serves as a senior technical advisor supporting enterprise integration initiatives, engineering governance, and technical decision-making while working collaboratively across Government, contractor, vendor, and implementation partner organizations.
Principal responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Enterprise Integration & Architecture:
• Develop enterprise integration strategies, reference architectures, and technical roadmaps supporting Health IT modernization initiatives.
• Develop and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts, including logical architectures, interface inventories, system dependency models, and integration documentation.
• Define enterprise integration patterns, architectural standards, and engineering approaches that promote consistency across modernization efforts.
• Evaluate current-state and future-state architectures supporting enterprise transformation.
• Assess proposed technical solutions for interoperability, scalability, maintainability, operational readiness, and alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural approaches that improve enterprise healthcare operations.
Systems Engineering & Integration:
• Plan and coordinate enterprise systems integration activities across multiple modernization initiatives.
• Analyze technical dependencies among applications, infrastructure, cybersecurity services, identity management, interfaces, cloud services, and external systems.
• Review engineering artifacts, technical requirements, solution designs, interface specifications, and vendor documentation to assess technical adequacy, interoperability, implementation readiness, and technical risk.
• Identify integration risks, architectural constraints, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support resolution of complex cross-system integration challenges.
• Develop and maintain enterprise interface standards, integration guidance, and technical documentation supporting standards-based interoperability.
• Support healthcare interoperability initiatives utilizing technologies such as HL7, FHIR, REST APIs, Direct Secure Messaging, Health Information Exchange (HIE), and Identity and Access Management services.
• Participate in engineering lifecycle reviews including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), Operational Readiness Reviews (ORR), Configuration Reviews, and Release Readiness Reviews.
• Support engineering verification, validation, deployment readiness, operational assessments, and continuous engineering improvement activities.
Engineering Governance:
• Support enterprise architecture governance, engineering review boards, technical working groups, and configuration management activities.
• Develop engineering standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), templates, technical guidance, and engineering best practices.
• Evaluate proposed engineering changes and technical impacts across integrated systems.
• Present engineering analyses and technical recommendations to engineering and program leadership.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, governance, and enterprise architecture practices.
Engineering Tools:
Experience using engineering, architecture, and integration tools including:
• Cameo Enterprise Architect (CEA)
• Microsoft Visio
• Microsoft SharePoint
• Microsoft Azure
• GitHub
• Enterprise Architecture repositories
• Interface management platforms
• Configuration management systems
• Requirements management tools
• Healthcare interoperability testing and validation tools

Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related technical discipline and 10–12 years of progressively responsible experience
OR
• Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Health Informatics, or a related technical discipline and 8–10 years of relevant experience.
Required Skills and Competencies:
• Experience serving as an Enterprise Integration Architect, Systems Engineer, Solution Architect, or similar technical leadership role supporting large-scale healthcare or federal technology modernization initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, enterprise architecture methodologies, and integration best practices.
• Experience developing enterprise architecture models and technical artifacts using enterprise architecture modeling tools.
• Experience designing enterprise systems integration and interoperability solutions.
• Experience developing and reviewing architecture documentation, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), technical specifications, and engineering artifacts.
• Working knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, FHIR, REST APIs, and Health Information Exchange (HIE).
• Experience supporting Oracle Health, Cerner, or comparable enterprise healthcare platforms.
• Experience supporting cloud-based architectures, identity management, and enterprise integration technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills with the ability to identify technical dependencies, risks, and integration impacts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to facilitate technical discussions and build consensus across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Desired Skills and Competencies:
• Experience supporting federal healthcare modernization initiatives.
• Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architect (CEA).
• Experience supporting Oracle Health or Cerner EHR implementations.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, DoDAF, or UAF.
• Experience supporting Agile engineering and DevSecOps environments.
• Active Public Trust or higher federal security clearance.
