The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Systems Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) to support the Guidance Subsystem Support Contract (GuSSC) program in Hill AFB, UT or Layton, UT. Boeing Defense and Space Systems is growing in the area of aircraft, missile, weapons and autonomous system Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) system design, development, integration, and test.

The InterContinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Minuteman III Guidance Engineering team is looking for motivated, talented engineers to join this robust long-term program. The candidate supports sustainment with a focus on Nuclear Hardness and Survivability (NH&S).

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide NH&S sustaining and design engineering support to ensure the Minuteman III NS50 guidance, flight controls, and battery systems continue to meet radiation hardness and survivability requirements
• Radiation Testing and Analysis: Plan, lead, and execute screening and characterization tests for Single Event Effects (SEE), Total Ionizing Dose (TID), and Displacement Damage Dose (DDD)
• Design Evaluation: Review electrical schematics, block diagrams, and bills of materials to recommend risk mitigation and design improvements to remedy hardness related problems
• Risk Reporting: Present test results, failure mode analyses, and hardness performance margins to engineering and program leadership
• Provide engineering support to the NS50 Hardness Surveillance Program (HSP)
• Assist in surveillance program planning, results assessment, test anomaly investigations, and pursue new approaches to HSP
• Provide NH&S engineering support for various new business initiatives
• Support RFI and RFP responses and white paper submittals
• Mentor engineers and customers in hostile radiation environments
• Support and participate in program reviews and technical forums
• Work under general direction or independently

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education
• Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

• Experience with Nuclear Hardness and Survivability (NH&S)
• Experience with hostile radiation environments
• Understanding of radiation effects in microelectronics, transport analysis, shielding effectiveness, and mitigation techniques

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range:

Level 2: $91,800-$124,200

Level 3: $112,200-$151,800
