Knowesis is currently seeking an exceptional Systems Engineer to join our team and provide invaluable support to the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (DoD OIG) Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) Bridge contract.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must have a Secret security clearance and possess United States Citizenship without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future. Applicants without proof of United States Citizenship will not be considered due to the position's security clearance requirements.
The Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Engineer, design, install, configure, optimize, and support IT systems for the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General (OIG) in support of approved projects and tasks, ensuring all solutions comply with DISA STIGs, DoD, and OIG policies and standards while maintaining high availability and service dependability.
- Perform root cause analysis of critical outages and incidents, engineer permanent corrective actions, and coordinate implementation to prevent recurrence.
- Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation, including SOPs, system architecture guides, and diagrams, in accordance with organizational templates, policies, and standards.
- Support the OIG Project Management Office (PMO), Enterprise Architect (EA), and management during requirements analysis by developing technical solution options, proposed configurations, optimization strategies, and system improvement plans.
- Collaborate with the OIG PMO to establish and meet project milestones, ensure solutions meet documented customer requirements and project scope, and follow all OIG change management and engineering review processes in alignment with project and release schedules.
- Serve as a Project Lead when assigned by developing task lists, supporting OCIO PMO project documentation, maintaining project status in the OIG automated project tracking system, and ensuring milestones are identified and achieved.
- Engineer, design, and implement migration plans for existing services to minimize service disruption, and design hardware solutions to ensure sufficient capacity, availability, and performance of OIG services.
- Engineer, install, configure, optimize, and support secure solutions incorporating DoD security technologies, including PKI and Host-Based Security System (HBSS).
- Install, configure, administer, and support VMware virtualization environments, including V-Motion, Storage V-Motion, Network/Storage IO Control, Site Recovery Manager (SRM) for disaster recovery and business continuity, virtual machine lifecycle management (creation, cloning, templating), snapshot management, VLANs, port groups, and NIC teaming.
- Support enterprise messaging and collaboration systems, including Microsoft Exchange, Skype for Business, SharePoint, and Project Server.
- Administer directory services by supporting Microsoft Active Directory, developing organizational units, managing user security through Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and maintaining directory-related services.
- Support Windows Server operating systems and enterprise applications and infrastructure, including Microsoft Dynamics CRM, VOIP, networking devices, Video Teleconferencing (VTC), mobility solutions, and Statistical Analysis System (SAS).
- Meet OIG-established service level metrics and performance standards.
- Travel within CONUS and the National Capital Region (NCR) may be required for meetings, conferences, and training.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering, or a related technical field, with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in systems engineering, network engineering, or IT infrastructure design and implementation.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering, designing, installing, configuring, and optimizing IT systems, including virtualization platforms such as VMware (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi) and Microsoft enterprise technologies (Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Windows Server, and System Center).
- Proven experience working in a government or DoD environment with DoD security and compliance requirements, including DISA STIGs, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Host-Based Security System (HBSS), and formal change management and engineering review processes.
- Experience performing root cause analysis for critical incidents and developing and implementing permanent corrective solutions.
- Strong technical documentation skills, including the ability to develop SOPs, system architecture diagrams, and other formal technical documentation.
- Project management experience with the ability to establish, track, and meet project milestones.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level I or higher certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M guidance (Security Plus, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or similar)
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3 or later certification
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services)
- Experience supporting both unclassified and classified networks (NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS)
- Experience with networking technologies, including Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN platforms
- Experience with security tools, including Splunk, McAfee HBSS, Palo Alto firewalls, and F5 load balancers
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veritas NetBackup, VMware Site Recovery Manager)
- Master's degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, engineering, or a related technical field
- Current Top Secret security clearance
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) in multiple technology areas
