The Role

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team of ADF members, Australian Public Servants
    (APS) and contractors.
  • Support autonomous systems activities through the provision of subject matter
    expertise.
  • Support Autonomous Systems and Teaming capability development activities,
    including working groups, exercises, testing, conferences, events. This may
    require travelling interstate.
  • Plan and execute JFI-directed activities, including the drafting of regulations,
    policies, and risk management plans.
  • Contribute to the development, review and presentation of submissions and
    briefs to senior Defence committees to coordinate Integrated Force
    requirements for autonomous systems across the ADF.
  • Support C4DASI co-design activities through the provision of subject matter
    expertise, as appropriate, and through guidance on the optimal application of
    policy to achieve Integrated Force interoperability outcomes for autonomous systems.

About You

The following criteria are considered essential for this role:

  • Technical expertise, demonstrable theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience in one or both of the following focal areas - Application of Autonomous Systems and Application of Artificial Intelligence in Autonomous Systems
  • Experience in or demonstrate an ability to shape policy and regulations to enable the introduction and evolution of autonomous systems in military contexts.
  • Possess and exhibit personable, collaborative and team-focused approaches and be capable of facilitating workshops of technical SMEs in Defence contexts.

The following criteria are considered highly desirable:

  • Experience in autonomous systems development and risk controls.
  • Experience in artificial intelligence systems development and risk controls.
  • Experience of the One Defence Capability System.
  • Expertise in planning and execution of test, evaluation and experimentation activities within Defence
